Kerner Grappa. Kerner, which in South Tyrol is produced only on about 30 hectares of land in Vinschgau and mostly in the Isarco valley, is a relatively young vine variety – its cultivation started in the 1920s from a cross between red Trollinger and white Riesling. The grapes provide a tangy, straw-yellow white wine with greenish hues. The Zu Plun distillery gets the pomace for this wine from the Köferer vineyard in Neustift, where – apart from Riesling and Silvaner – a robust Kerner brandy with the typical mineral characteristics of this wine production area is pressed. Its class is also reflected in our clear, distinctive grappa. Like the wine, also Kerner Grappa from the Zu Plun distillery is restrained to the nose, while it is dry, full and very tasty to the palate. This spirit has a restrained, finely structured aroma profile finish, with taste notes similar to Moscato.
