Blauburgunder, which depending on the region is also known as Late or Black Burgunder or Pinot Nero, is one of the most important noble vine varieties and a traditional red wine from the cooler production areas. Indeed, in Italy, most of it is grown in northern regions such as South Tyrol where this shiny ruby-red wine has been produced for over 150 years. Due to its juicy fruit aromas and thick structure, also the Blauburgunder Grappa has an specially complex roundness. This varietal specialty is distilled using pomace from small vineyards, for example Stroblhof in Eppan. The latter is well known for the Blauburgunder Pigeno with its fine sour cherry aroma and special reserve, which is only produced in extraordinarily good vintage years. Selected, healthy and fully ripe grapes from the best location and traditional vines guarantee an elegant Blauburgunder with well-balanced tannin and fine aromas, qualities which the distillation master at Plunhof is able to bring to life also in our Grappa. To the nose, Blauburgunder Grappa reveals aromas of fully ripe cherries, blueberries and a hint of bitter almonds. To the palate this distillate is strong with outstanding tannins which mingle with its finish of soft and light fruity taste notes.
